Alleviating the E-Cigarette Epidemic

Readers will be aware that there is an e-cigarette epidemic. Every time that the subject comes up on the news, it is said that the use of ecigs is spreading like wildfire. And perhaps it is – except that it is not easy to know whether that is true or not. In my local pubs, I have seen someone sneakily suck on an ecig, and I have also seen people occasionally sucking outside, but so few people are going into the pubs, and for a comparatively short period of time, that, population-wide, I doubt that it is making the slightest bit of difference to anything. People who Enjoy Tobacco (PETS) are staying home, thus at least 50% of pub customers no longer frequent them. Further, lots of non-smokers are now finding pub to be boring, so why spend your money in them when you might as well stay at home and drink the best Scotch single malts for the price of a few pints of “taxation” beer? (That thought [“Taxation Beer”] could travel, if the tobacco and alcohol companies could get some humour. Imagine the Australian PP laws longevity if all the tobacco companies called their fags “Taxation Benson and Hedges”, and “Taxation Marlborough”, and “Taxation Winstons”. It could never happen because the tobacco companies are THINGS. They do not ‘do’ humour. Individual executives might be human, but the company is not. We should remember that when we see advertising departments trying to inject humour into their adverts – their humour is NOT REAL! It is a marketing trick. It is just the same sort of trick as music in adverts – entirely calculated.

I have watched two videos tonight. One was via Dick Puddlecote’s site (via Grandad) of a discussion on Irish TV about ecigs. The discussion was between Clive Bates and a couple of dinosaurs from Tobacco Control. Despite being ex CEO of ASH, Clive Bates is realistic. He says that anything which is not obviously dangerous, and which helps people to reduce smoking tobacco, is better than smoking tobacco. He says that ecigs are AT LEAST 99% less dangerous than cigarettes, so why are Tobacco Control Zealots doing their best to raise barriers in front of ecigs? Why is the EU trying to destroy the ecig industry rather than encouraging it? Here is the URL for that discussion in Ireland:

If you watch and listen to that video,  there are a number of jaw-dropping statements. One is when the “Drugs Company representative says that it does not matter whether you smoke 8 cigs per day or 18, the result is the same. Utter and complete and total shite! If there was one thing that the Doctors Study ‘proved’ it was that heavy smoking is far more dangerous than moderate or light smoking. (In fact, light smoking hardly matters at all) The only way that the criminally insane spokesperson for Big Pharm, Darragh O’Loughlin, could possibly justify such a statement would be on a “No Safe Level” basis, except that the Doctors Study (the Holy Bible of TC) stated, unequivocall,y otherwise. No matter how infinitely small the safe level may be, it must exist. That is because the ‘damage’ from smoking, as described in the Doctors Study, takes decades to reveal itself. Thus, a person who smokes one cig per day will not suffer any consequences before he is dead – and has been dead for a long time. Thus, as his body rots in its grave, the harm from tobacco will take effect. That means that the maggots or worms will get ‘a nicotine fix’. Even if the body is cremated, the ashes will still possess the ‘power’. If they are scattered on the ground, anything that grows there will contain the ‘nicotine fix’ – WHICH IS AN ALL POWERFUL DRUG, FAR EXCEEDING ANY OTHER INFINITE OR ETERNAL MIRACLE. In fact, one could say that nicotine is God.

The other video was of a programme on ITV about ecigs. I watched it on ITVplayer. That programme also contained jaw-dropping assertions. One was of a woman whose husband had died from some obscure lung condition which may or may not have involved ‘oil’ in the lungs. Her husband’s doctor/specialist said that the oil ‘may’ have come from the ecig that he had been smoking – despite the fact that he had been smoking fags for donkeys years. If you want to watch another thoroughly ignorant (meaning ‘lacking in knowledge’) video, then here is the URL (I think!):

=========

I really think that we have moved into an era of ‘post-tobacco-control’. Ecigs are NOT tobacco NOR are they medicines. Everything that I have been reading in the last couple of days seems to indicate that, at last, people are going to stand up to the bullies. By that, I do not mean only the consumers of ecigs – I mean the manufacturers and retailers. But I am not sure that they see the ‘rational’ behind their stand. That rational depends upon the realisation that they are not dealing with rational people. They are dealing with A THING. That THING is “THE PUBLIC HEALTH INDUSTRY”. The Ecig world has to realise that what they are up against is not PEOPLE, but is A THING. It is a sprawling octopus of A THING, but it is still A THING. The natural consequence is that ALL of the various bodies MUST REFUSE TO OBEY.

Let us remind ourselves of the definition of AN INDUSTRY: “An amoral organisation which provides goods and services for profit”. “Lies, damn lies and statistics” are only the thin end of the wedge. “The Public Health Industry” will do anything to survive. That is the nature of the beast.

So, a “nicotine vapor cartridge” is pierced when put into an “inhaler” and you puff on it. That sounds a lot like the same products all of these cities and states are banning right now due to the “potential health risks” and “unknowns”.

However, Pfizer’s e-cigarette is FDA approved and prescribed by doctors.

So… Pfizer’s nicotine suspended in propylene glycol is good. But my nicotine suspended in propylene glycol is bad.

Mine tastes like watermelon and honeydew and is delicious and doesn’t cause me to cough or have burning in my throat, while Pfizer’s admittedly does:

“Side Effects: Many people experience mild irritation of the mouth or throat and cough when they first use the Nicotrol Inhaler. Most people get used to these effects in a short time. Stomach upset may also occur.”

I go through 1 tank per day, while users of Nicotrol have to visit their doctor approximately 3 times per day due to the fact that they can use up to 16 cartridges per day, while only 6 cartridges come with the Nicotrol inhaler:

“Most successful patients in the clinical trials used between
6 and 16 cartridges a day. Best effect was achieved by frequent continuous puffing (20 minutes).”

Nicotrol_InhalerAnd, based on Pfizer’s research on Nicotrol (which, again, is FDA approved), the super dangerous side effects of nicotine, delivered orally, not through a combustion based mechanism (ie, a cigarette), which is what’s sparking all of these bans, are:

    “…….and hiccup.”

Okay, it’s not just the hiccups. It’s diarrhea, nausea, and hiccup, but that’s only in 3% of users of nicotine, and the same side effects are present when nicotine is delivered via a combustion based mechanism. None of which are life threatening. All of which would most likely make you stop using nicotine, whether that’s via an e-cigarette, or traditional cigarette.

You can read Pfizer’s whole study on their e-cigarette here, which applies to the e-cigarettes people are actually using, because Pfizer’s is garbage, because.. surprise.. the taste of bitter nicotine, without additional flavors, doesn’t really appeal to people. However, add something like watermelon, or strawberry, or any other delicious flavor of your choosing, and it changes everything.

Oh, wait, that’s right. According to Clearway, and the anti-nicotine-and-tobacco zealots, no adult would ever eat, drink, or vape something as childish as strawberry, watermelon, or chocolate. That’s why UV Vodka makes all of those delicious flavored vodkas.

    For the kids.

Bloody good on Clive Bates is all I can say and this is the only time I’ll have anything complimentary to say about anybody, thing or thought related, directly or indirectly, to the likes of ASH et al.

Unfortunately, I still think e-cigs are crap but I’ll use them if it’s the only way I can frequent pubs again. (and if I can put up with them)

I suppose I could give up? or go outside? Yeah, right! Two fingers in Imperial and one in metric!

    • Junican Says:

      I agree.
One wonders why he ceased to be CEO of ASH. What qualities did Arnott have that made her suitable to replace him? Perhaps, despite his anti-tobacco stance, he was too honest. When The Public Health Industry, with it Board of Directors, gained control, only sycophants need apply. At least he has the knowledge of the system works, and how best to approach the apparatchiks of the EUSSReich.
The critical thing about ecigs is that people have another choice besides “Quit or Die”, which they can choose for themselves. That is what The Public Health Industry is terrified of. If people decide for themselves (whether to avail themselves of the pleasures of ecigs or the pleasures of tobacco), it renders the whole Public Health Industry redundant. The reason is that all the stuff about sugar, salt, fat and alcohol can also be addressed by similar methods, when those methods are discovered. But even worse for them is that ecigs render their claims about tobacco and nicotine suspect, most of all because ecigs throw all their propaganda hype into a different perspective. The Zealots have been trying to claim that ANY level of smoking is disastrous, but Doll’s Doctors Study shows that there is a definite ‘dose relationship’, and the Zealots have been trying to deny the obvious. That is, a person could use ecigs some of the time and smoke proper cigs at other times. Further, and perhaps more importantly, this mixture of ecigs and fags would show pretty conclusively that SHS is harmless in normal circumstances.
